Water Can Accelerate Homogeneous Gold Catalysis

A selection of gold-catalyzed reactions was examined in a kinetic study on the influence water rate constant. Two intramolecular and one intermolecular reaction, which proceed via proton transfer and/or protodeauration steps, were investigated. The data collected by GC or 1H NMR spectroscopy. obtained constants provided information about these test reactions. On basis collected, beyond commonly assumed tolerance against water, reaction-promoting gold catalysis identified kinetically quantified. results underline that often-mentioned water-tolerance not only simplifies operationally, but addition even provides better than troublesome exclusion water.
